Steven C. Atkins, Psy.D

Dr. Steve Atkins is a NH & VT licensed psychologist and school consultant whose practice focuses on a range of issues, including specific learning disabilities, ADHD, developmental theory, school-related mental health issues/policy and systemic theory. He maintains a private practice and also holds an adjunct position on the Dartmouth Medical School Faculty, where he provides lectures on systemic theory for the Fellows in the Department of Psychiatry. He consults for school districts where he fine-tunes school districts’ behavioral and Student Assistance Programs; leads social skills groups; presents to students, and addresses student’s mental health issues with school administrations and faculty. Dr. Atkins holds a Masters degree in Education from Harvard University and a Doctorate of Psychology from the Massachusetts School of Professional Psychology. Dr. Atkins joined the Second Growth Board in September of 2014.

Jim Damren

Jim Damren is a graduate of Lebanon High School and earned his BA degree in English at Plymouth State College. He is an insurance agent with A.B. Gile, Inc. and has 26 years of experience in the industry. Jim has a passion for athletics, with a primary focus on youth sports, particularly hockey, and has been a coach for more than 30 years. He is a lifelong resident of Lebanon, NH and resides in West Lebanon with his wife Lisa and three sons Ryan, Nate and Aaron. Jim joined the Second Growth Board in September of 2013.

Barbara Farnsworth, MS, Executive Director

Barbara Farnsworth has an MS in Human Services and brings over 20 years of experience in development, marketing, and business operations to Second Growth from both the profit and non-profit worlds. She has extensive experience in relationship building, program development, marketing. budgeting and training. In addition to her career, Barbara’s work as a volunteer finds her in a variety of roles ranging from coach on the basketball court to Guardian ad Litem in the Vermont Family Courts — with several stops in her local schools/community along the way. Barbara and her husband Scott are natives of Vermont and are enjoying raising three active children in the Town of Hartford. You can reach Barbara at barbarafarnsworth@secondgrowth.org.

Peter Guillette, Chair

Peter Guillette is owner of ProMed Sales and Consulting, a pharmaceutical sales and consulting company.  He serves as a commissioner and Treasurer on the Upper Valley Lake Sunapee Regional Planning Commission representing the Town of Grantham. Peter also serves the Town of Grantham on the Planning Board and Capital Improvement Committee and is an alternate on the Zoning Board.  He previously served nine years on the School Board in Hanover, NH and served on the Planning Board in Claremont, NH. Peter lives in Grantham, NH with his wife Jacqui, he joined the Second Growth Board in 2011.

Judy Houde Hardy, Secretary

Judy Houde Hardy is a Special Educator in the Hartford School District and she has lived in Upper Valley for over fifteen years. The mother of four children, Judy has been active in education as a board member, volunteer, and coach. She is now working as a special educator focusing on behavior support with elementary students. Judy and her family live in Meriden, NH. Judy joined the Second Growth board in November of 2012.

Jeff Libbey

Jeff Libbey is a graduate of Hartford High School and a lifelong resident of the Town of Hartford. Jeff has been involved in Public Safety for thirty years and is currently the Assistant Fire Chief with the Lebanon Fire Department. He has an Associate Degree in Fire Science and Fire Engineering. He lives in Hartford, Vermont, with his wife Karen and his daughter Emma. Jeff is currently the Chair of the Midwestern Hazardous Materials Team, which covers 14 communities. Jeff joined the Second Growth Board in September of 2014.

Gabrielle Lucke, MS, Vice Chair

Gabrielle Lucke (Vice Chair) serves as the Director of Diversity Training & Educational Programs with Dartmouth College’s Office of Institutional Diversity & Equity. For over 25 years Gabrielle has served colleges and universities in many roles, including administrator, faculty member, health educator, and counselor. She has her BS in Social Sciences from St Mary’s College of Maryland and her MS in Clinical Counseling from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania. She has also completed her doctorial course work in Health Education at the University of Maryland College Park and is a certified early childhood educator. Gabrielle frequently serves as a contracted consultant with the US Department of Education’s Office of Safe and Drug Free Schools. Gabrielle and her family live in Hartford where she recently served as a representative on her community’s Board of Education. Gabrielle joined the Second Growth Board in October of 2012.

Heather Cantagallo, M.Ed

Heather Cantagallo is the principal of the Grantham Village Elementary School.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Keene State College, a Master of Education in School Administration, and a CAGS degree in Educational Leadership from Plymouth State University. Heather has been an educator for over 22 years, teaching at various grade levels and working as a school administrator. She has also worked as an adjunct faculty member for a graduate education program. Heather joined the Second Growth board in August of 2015.

Amber McGonis, CPA, Treasurer

Amber McGonis, CPA (Treasurer), is a supervisor at Tyler, Simms & St. Sauveur in Lebanon, NH. She graduated from Bryant University with her B.S. in accounting in May 2008. Having grown up in the Upper Valley, Amber is now committed to the area and currently resides in Enfield, NH. She is looking forward to her opportunity to be of service and give back to the community by joining Second Growth’s board. Amber joined the Second Growth Board in September of 2013.
