Second Growth is a nonprofit provider of counseling for children, adults, and families, and offers youth programs focused on leadership skills development and substance use awareness and prevention. Our primary mission is to reduce substance use and violence for young adults, and to build the strength and resilience of youth in order to improve their lives and support their safe navigation through adolescence. We are seeking motivated, mission-focused people to help us provide services to our community. We have both part-time and full-time positions open for the following:
* Clinical Counselor – Wilder, VT
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in psychology, social work, education, or related fields
- Graduate degree in psychology, clinical counseling, social work, or related fields
- Second Growth is willing to supervise staff toward licensure. Candidate licensed in one the following fields is preferred: LMFT, LADC, LMHC, LPC
- Previous experience working with children and teens is preferred
- Successful candidate will be organized, self-directed, and demonstrate effective communication- and problem solving skills
- Criminal background checks, licensing verification, and references are required for all positions
Brief Job Description and Benefits:
- Report to Second Growth’s Executive Director.
- Conduct assessments, develop treatment plans, and provide individual, group, or family counseling

Outline of Responsibilities:
- Provide evidence-based care to individuals and families in Second Growth’s offices
- Conduct assessments, provide early intervention and counseling, facilitate groups, and provide access or referrals to other community resources
- Manage case referrals and assignments, coordinating client care needs with other team members to ensure effective and optimal care
- Follow through in a timely way with parents, referring physicians, school staff, or community agencies as needed to ensure optimal client care coordination
- Participate in community education events or educational forums and make presentations on topics of interest to the community
- Regularly attend clinical supervision arranged by Second Growth and in the company of other practitioners to gain perspective and for problem solving
** Student Assistance Counselor – Assigned to schools in VT and NH
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in psychology, social work, education, or related fields
- Graduate degree in psychology, clinical counseling, social work, or related fields is preferred
- If not otherwise licensed, certification as an AAP in VT, or CPS in NH is required within one year of employment
- Previous experience working with children and teens is preferred
- Successful candidate will be organized, self-directed, and demonstrate effective communication- and problem solving skills
- Criminal background checks, licensing verification, and references are required for all positions
Brief Job Description and Benefits:

- Second Growth is willing to supervise staff toward licensure, if that is a professional goal
- Coordinate- and confer with school administrators to determine and schedule services to be provided within the scope of Student Assistance Program model
- Part-time position qualifies for 10 paid holidays, generous paid time off, professional development reimbursement, and 401k plan

Outline of Responsibilities:
- Provide supports and services with fidelity to the Student Assistance Program model
- Provide supportive services, early interventions, and prevention education to middle- and high school students related to behavior, relationships, and other issues as appropriate
- Provide prevention education, bullying awareness and prevention, and address other emergent issues in a group or classroom setting, as requested by school administrators and staff
- Attend periodic student services meetings with school staff for review of students and to plan appropriate interventions
- Follow through in a timely way with parents, school staff, or community agencies when appropriate and as needed, using discretion and with fidelity to laws protecting the privacy of students and families
- Participate in community education events or educational forums and make presentations on topics of interest to the community
- Regularly attend professional supervision arranged by Second Growth and in the company of other practitioners to gain perspective and for problem solving
